The Katsina State Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has on the 5th March 2018 inaugurated the Board of Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA) in the Government House in Katsina. He charged members to chart a course for the development of the Agency that is the backbone to mobilize resources for investments in the State.

The newly inaugurated Board which is comprised of prominent personalities is chaired by Alhaji Tanimu Kurfi mni, who is a renown economist and a former Chief Economic Adviser to the late President Umar Musa Yar’adua
In the inaugural speech, the Governor stressed that “Katsina State is determined to improve the business environment by reducing the cost of doing business in Katsina State”.

This is as the race for attracting investments into States in Nigeria is increasingly becoming competitive and many states are ramping up activities that would give them the competitive and comparative advantage to be the preferred destination for critical local and foreign direct investments needed for the development of their states.

The event was attended by some Federal Government Agencies including the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), and the Nigeria’s Shippers Council.

In her goodwill remark, the Executive Secretary/CEO Ms Yewande Sadiku said that the Federal Government of Nigeria continues to push for a globally competitive business environment for the country in order to attract the quantum of investments that would drive the realization of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) and since investments are ultimately located  in States, the governments must work together to achieve this goal.

She then assured of NIPC’s continuous support of the agency which has started since 2016.
Also speaking at the event, the representative of PEBEC remarked that Katsina State ranked number 1 in the ease of doing business in Nigeria at the sub-national rankings.

At the courtesy visit on the Governor after the event, the Executive Secretary of NIPC Ms Yewande Sadiku also advised the State to key into the Focus Labs being organised by the Implementation Committee of the ERGP. She said the labs were intended to bring all relevant stakeholders into six weeks of intensive working sessions to brainstorm on practical steps to overcoming any identified challenges in the focus areas.
