Chinese Company Plans Industrial City in Onitsha

A CHINESE company, Golden Promise Ltd, has said that it has plans to establish an industrial city in Onitsha, Anambra State.

A Nigerian, Mr. Okey Onyekwere, who led members of the group on a visit to the Government House in Awka, said the company was incorporated with the China Construction Company, CCC and Nigeria Inland Water Ways Authority. According to him, the visit to Anambra was to gather more information and work out modalities on how to execute the project.

Deputy Manager of Golden Promise Ltd., Mr. Sisley Yang said the company, whose area of emphasis is infrastructure development, explained that the company’s interest was to extend its business operation to Onitsha with a view to improving the quality of trade at the famous Onitsha Main Market. He also said the company would expand its businesses in Nigeria, adding that Golden Promise already had a shipping company that operates from China to Lagos.

Anambra State deputy governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, who received the delegation on behalf of Governor Willie Obiano, described the visit as timely, saying “the state needed potential investors with capacity for infrastructure development.”
