NIPC Issues Report on Pioneer Status Incentive, Q3 2018

NIPC Reception

NIPC has published its Quarterly Report on Pioneer Status Incentives for the third quarter of 2018 (July to September), detailing applications received, decisions taken, and the cumulative economic contribution of the programme.

During Q3 2018, NIPC received 22 applications for pioneer status from companies investing in qualifying industries and products. The Commission approved 12 pioneer certificates during the quarter, covering capital investments of ₦93.06 billion and supporting 1,422 jobs. The Report also details applications that were denied, deferred, or remain under review.

The Pioneer Status Incentive grants qualifying companies a tax holiday of up to five years under the Industrial Development (Income Tax Relief) Act, reducing the tax burden during early-stage operations and encouraging investment in priority sectors of the Nigerian economy. NIPC administers the incentive and publishes quarterly reports to provide transparency on the programme's administration.

The Q3 2018 Report is available on the NIPC website. Investors and companies wishing to apply for pioneer status may obtain guidance on qualifying industries, products, and the application process from NIPC.
