Chairman of NIPC's Governing Council Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree

The Chairman of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) Governing Council and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Babangida Nguroje, has been conferred with the honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Philanthropic Management.

The honour was conferred by Freedom University and Theological Seminary, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, United States of America (African Campus), and was presented to Rt. Hon. Nguroje on 6 April 2019 in Abuja.

Rt. Honourable Nguroje is an Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) and holds the chieftaincy title of Makama Gashaka. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in the same field from the University of Maiduguri. He began his political career at the age of 30, first elected to the Federal House of Representatives to represent the Sardauna/Gashaka/Kurmi Federal Constituency of Taraba State in the 4th Assembly, and was re-elected in the 6th Assembly in 2007, becoming the youngest Deputy Speaker at the age of 34.

The award was conferred in recognition of his philanthropic work within and beyond his constituency, including the provision of health centres, renovation of schools, scholarship awards to the less privileged, donation of reading materials, free healthcare services, youth job creation, skills acquisition and training programmes, and other community-oriented activities. NIPC commends the philanthropic endeavours that earned Rt. Hon. Nguroje this distinguished recognition.
