The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has recognised and awarded the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of NIPC, Ms Yewande Sadiku, with the "Distinguished Friend of the Media" award in recognition of her friendly disposition and cordial working relationship with the press.
Ms Sadiku received the award at the "Press Freedom Award 2019" ceremony in Abuja, dedicating it to the Management and Staff of the Commission. She stated: "I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the hardworking Management and Staff of NIPC. I consider this constituency important stakeholders in the work that we do. As a public agency that represents the interest of investors — and that speaks the language of government to investors and the language of investors to government — we can't do this without letting the world know what we are doing on behalf of both parties." The award was presented by the NUJ National President, Mr Chris Ikechukwu.
The NIPC Chief Executive commended the media for highlighting the Commission's activities and initiatives to the investment public, and reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to continued partnership with journalists. Among the NIPC initiatives she cited were the iGuide Nigeria, the Compendium of Investment Incentives in Nigeria, the daily NIPC Intelligence e-newsletters, the Report of Investment Announcements, the Nigeria Investment Certification Programme for States (NICPS), Pioneer Status Incentive reforms, and the One Stop Investment Centre (OSIC) Lab.
Other recipients of the NUJ "Distinguished Friend of the Media" award at the ceremony included Engr. Chidi Izuwah, Director General of the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Agency (ICRA), and Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). The award is presented to public office holders who have actively supported press freedom and good governance in Nigeria.
