As part of NIPC's aftercare services, the South East Zonal Office (SEZO) undertook a familiarisation visit to Everight Diagnostics, a medical diagnostics centre with state-of-the-art equipment located in Owerri, Imo State.
The visit was led by Mr Eric Ani, Head of the South East Zone (based in Enugu), on behalf of the Executive Secretary/CEO. The NIPC team briefed Everight's management on the Commission's mandate and its facilitation and advocacy initiatives for investment in Nigeria. The Chief Executive Officer of Everight, Mr Everest Okpara — who also serves as President of the Owerri Chamber of Commerce — disclosed that he is a Nigerian diaspora returnee who brought investment home during Nigeria's FDI diaspora campaigns. He confirmed plans to expand the facility with DNA testing capability at a cost of over ₦650 million, and expressed hope that NIPC would provide facilitation and aftercare support for the expansion.
In a related visit, the South East Zonal Office called on Nalis Pharmaceuticals Ltd, also in Owerri, a company engaged in the production of drugs, particularly liquid syrups. The Managing Director/CEO, Mr Obinna Onwunali, briefed the NIPC team on the company's operations and highlighted significant infrastructure challenges including inadequate road networks and unreliable electricity at the Owerri Industrial Park. He noted that substantial private expenditure had already been incurred on transformers, generators, and transmission lines to secure power for the facility, yet electricity supply remained insufficient. He requested NIPC's advocacy support to secure the provision of essential amenities.
Both visits reflect NIPC's ongoing commitment to aftercare services — engaging with existing investors to address operational challenges and facilitate the expansion of investment already established in Nigeria.
