NIPC, NSC Partner to Promote Transport Infrastructure Projects

NIPC Reception

NIPC and the Nigerian Shippers' Council (NSC) will partner to promote the development of transport infrastructure projects across Nigeria, including the Ibadan dry port and a network of truck transit parks.

The Executive Secretary/CEO of NSC, Mr Hassan Bello, described the Ibadan dry port as an 80,000 TEU-capacity project estimated to cost approximately US$100 million, for which a preferred bidder has already been selected. He also outlined plans for truck transit parks equipped with modern facilities for the servicing and repair of haulage vehicles, allowing truck drivers to take breaks and access supplies during long journeys — with the broader aim of digitising and automating Nigeria's port operations.

On her part, Ms Yewande Sadiku, Executive Secretary/CEO of NIPC, acknowledged the catalysing role of transport infrastructure in the economy and confirmed that NIPC will partner NSC to advance these projects. She described NIPC's contribution as primarily advocacy and connectivity: "NIPC acts as a conduit for connecting investors and government agencies." Both Chief Executives agreed that synergy between their agencies — and across government — is essential to facilitate investments in the country.
