Borno and NIPC to Partner on Investments as Governor Zulum Plans State Investment Agency

NIPC Reception

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, visited NIPC headquarters in Abuja to discuss how both parties can partner to attract investments to the State. The Governor spoke on the nexus between economic development and security, noting that following the State's successes in managing insurgency, he is committed to attracting investments that will generate employment opportunities.

Governor Zulum announced plans to establish a sustainable Investment Promotion Agency in Borno State, to be staffed on merit and to work with NIPC in projecting the State's investment potentials, particularly in agriculture and mining. He also expressed commitment to actively improving the ease of doing business in the State.

NIPC's Executive Secretary, Ms Yewande Sadiku, assured the Governor of the Commission's commitment to supporting Borno State. She noted that her first visit to the State in February 2017 had inspired the Book of States — NIPC's flagship publication designed to proactively attract investments to each state. NIPC will work with Borno State to set up its Investment Promotion Agency, providing guidance and support to ensure its functional establishment.
