Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has called on Egyptian and Ethiopian investors to increase direct foreign investment into the state, during an investment tour that included meetings in both Addis Ababa and Cairo. Governor Abiodun particularly sought investments and collaboration in the areas of industry, trade, and agribusiness.
In Ethiopia, the Governor met with the Ethiopian Minister of Industry to discuss industry and trade collaboration and to evaluate the African Development Bank's Special Agro-Processing Zones (SAPZs) as a model for Ogun State. In Egypt, he met with the Elsewedy Group — one of the continent's largest conglomerates — to seek partnerships in healthcare, industrial park development, real estate, intelligent transport systems, tolling, and power. Meetings were also held with Wadi Degla Holding, a Cairo-based conglomerate, on creative arts, entertainment and sports development opportunities.
Nigeria's Minister of Agriculture Mr Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar accompanied Governor Abiodun on the tour. The engagements reflect the Ogun State government's broader strategy to leverage the State's proximity to Lagos and its developed industrial infrastructure to attract foreign direct investment.
