On 11 December 2023, NIPC welcomed a private sector delegation led by the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Germany, marking a significant step in fostering economic collaboration between Germany and Nigeria. The delegation, including first-time visitors to Nigeria, gained valuable insights into the country's dynamic investment landscape through engaging interactions with government officials and successful Nigerian businesses.
NIPC's Executive Secretary/CEO, Ms Aisha Rimi, highlighted Nigeria's vast economic potential and strategic location as a gateway to the West African market. 'We are open to investors and development,' Ms Rimi stated, emphasising NIPC's commitment to supporting investors beyond simply processing paperwork. 'We also provide services to existing investors and businesses facing challenges.'
Mr Michael Schmidt, Deputy Head of UNIDO ITPO Germany, underscored the crucial role of private sector investment in driving economic growth and creating jobs, commending NIPC's efforts in promoting Nigeria as a prime investment destination.
This mission builds on Germany's growing interest in Nigeria, exemplified by Chancellor Scholz's recent visit and the signing of major agreements in the energy sector.
