On 4 July 2024, NIPC took part in Day 2 of the 'Rethinking Manufacturing' Summit, a three-day event addressing pressing challenges in Nigeria's manufacturing sector, including dwindling performance, inadequate infrastructure, inconsistent policy measures and high operational costs. These challenges have led to company closures, divestments, low profitability, job losses and a reduced GDP contribution.
The summit was organised by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in partnership with the Presidency, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and Ernst & Young (EY).
Representing NIPC, Deputy Director Mrs Lovina Kayode and Acting Deputy Director Mrs Uche Okonkwo made significant contributions during discussions in Focus Group 1, which focused on promoting growth, upscaling productivity and improving competitiveness. NIPC's involvement is key to fostering an environment conducive to sustainable growth and innovation in Nigeria's manufacturing sector.
