NIPC Joins IPAWAS Capacity Building Workshop in Abuja

The Capacity Building Workshop and Technical Committee Meeting of the Investment Promotion Agencies of West Africa (IPAWAS) commenced at The Wells Carlton Hotels, Abuja, organised by the OECD in collaboration with ECOWAS and the Government of Japan, aiming to strengthen the capacity of ECOWAS Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) in attracting sustainable and responsible investments.

NIPC was represented at the workshop by Mr Abayomi Salami, Director of Policy Advocacy, and Mr Thomas Ayo of the Legal Services Unit. Delivering the opening remarks on behalf of Ms Aisha Rimi, ES/CEO of NIPC and President of IPAWAS, Mr Salami underscored NIPC's strategic role in driving IPAWAS's mission to attract Responsible, Inclusive, Beneficial and Sustainable (RIBS) investments across the ECOWAS region.

Notable resource persons at the event included the Commissioner for Trade and Industry of Niger State and a Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), whose insights contributed significantly to discussions on enhancing investment promotion strategies within West Africa.

The workshop served as a platform for knowledge exchange, policy enhancement and regional collaboration, further positioning West Africa as a preferred destination for foreign direct investment.
