The One Stop Investment Centre (OSIC) is NIPC's flagship investor facilitation service, located at its Abuja headquarters, that brings 17 Federal Government agencies and parastatals together in one physical location. Introduced in March 2006 as a key government policy reform initiative, OSIC was designed to fast-track business establishment in Nigeria by substantially lowering the cost of doing business and eliminating administrative barriers to business start-up.
OSIC coordinates agency operations for synergy without altering each agency's existing legal framework or policy objectives. Previously, the Nigerian public sector was characterised by inter-agency rivalry and multiplicity of agencies involved in investment facilitation. OSIC was developed specifically to streamline, simplify, clarify, and coordinate business entry, making Nigeria's investment facilitation infrastructure function as a unified service rather than a collection of competing departments.
NIPC coordinates operations at OSIC, but all services are provided directly by the participating agencies. Each agency maintains its own mandate and statutory authority. OSIC simply removes the need for investors to visit each one separately.
The following services can be initiated and processed at OSIC:
- NIPC Business Registration Initiation and facilitation of enterprise registration with NIPC, coordinated with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
- Company Incorporation Business incorporation support through the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), co-located at OSIC.
- Due Diligence Search on Companies Company searches and due diligence facilitated through the CAC.
- Visa Facilitation Immigration services including business visa facilitation support through the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
- Business Permit and Expatriate Quota Business permit issuance and expatriate quota processing through the Federal Ministry of Interior.
- Sector-specific guidance and approvals Guidance and approvals from co-located agencies across agriculture, banking, customs, energy, mining, petroleum, standards, and export promotion.
- Facilitation and follow-up across all MDAs OSIC provides facilitation and follow-up services on behalf of investors in all government Ministries and Agencies, not just those physically co-located.
