NIPC Strengthens Efforts at Anti-Corruption and Transparency

NIPC Reception

As part of Management's continued efforts to entrench transparency, NIPC has reconstituted its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) inaugurated and inducted the Chairman, Secretary and members of the Unit.

ACTU was established by the ICPC as one of the implementation mechanisms for its mandate on the prohibition and prevention of corruption in the public service. NIPC's ACTU is expected to monitor compliance, promote ethics and integrity, and support the Commission's commitment to zero tolerance for corruption — with its independence guaranteed by Management.

In her welcome address, NIPC's Executive Secretary/CEO, Ms Yewande Sadiku, stated that she looks forward to NIPC's ACTU delivering on its mandate and assured the Unit of the full support and non-interference of Management. The representative of the ICPC Chairman, Mr Olayinka Aiyegbayo, stated in his goodwill message that the inauguration demonstrates NIPC's support for the government's position on ACTU as an instrument for fighting corruption in the public service. The reconstituted ACTU is headed by Mrs Uchenna Okonkwo, with Mr Bello Hamidu as Secretary.
