As part of efforts to build synergy with states for effective investment promotion, NIPC's Executive Secretary/CEO, Ms Yewande Sadiku, led a delegation on a working visit to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, at the Government House, Yenegoa, on 5 November 2020.
Ms Sadiku explained NIPC's mandate to the Governor and his team, and sought his support in establishing an Investment Promotion Agency for Bayelsa State. Governor Diri pledged to work with NIPC to attract investment to the State, noting that Bayelsa is the most peaceful state in the South-South region.
Bayelsa State has a comparative advantage in salt and clay deposits used in the production of ceramics. The State is also the largest producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the country and the source of approximately 40% of onshore crude oil production in Nigeria, making it a strategic investment destination in the energy sector.
