A Joint Committee of staff from NIPC and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on the Pioneer Status Incentive (PSI) was inaugurated on 5 March 2021 at the NIPC Head Office, Abuja. The Committee was constituted to review the current guidelines for administering the PSI, validate the cost of the incentive to Nigeria, and recommend changes to qualification criteria and administrative processes.
NIPC's Executive Secretary/CEO, Ms Yewande Sadiku, stated that the Commission exercises great diligence in processing PSI applications and fully understands the responsibility it shoulders in administering the incentive. FIRS Executive Chairman Mr Muhammad Nami encouraged Committee members to invest their energy in the exercise, describing it as a means to assist government in achieving an enabling business environment whilst meeting its responsibility to fund budgetary needs. The Joint Committee is expected to complete its work within three months.
