NIPC's CEO Wants Nigerians to Market Country as Investment Destination

NIPC Reception

NIPC's Executive Secretary/CEO, Ms Yewande Sadiku, has called on Nigerians to join the Commission's investment promotion drive and to be mindful of the image they project of their country to the world. Speaking at a media parley in Abuja, she argued that with Nigeria's abundant natural resources and economic potential, the country should be a destination of choice for investors from across the globe.

On the effects of insecurity on investment, Ms Sadiku acknowledged that every country has its share of security challenges, but stressed that Nigerians should be mindful of how they portray their country, as negative narratives can deter investors. She emphasised that data is central to NIPC's work: 'If you don't have data, you cannot advise government appropriately on how to attract investment.'

Ms Sadiku highlighted the Book of States — produced by NIPC in partnership with the Nigeria Governors' Forum — as a building block in the Commission's effort to showcase the abundance of investment opportunities across all 36 states and the FCT. She confirmed that NIPC will not relent in showcasing what Nigeria has to offer to prospective investors.

The media parley also featured the presentation of NIPC's Q1 2021 Pioneer Status Incentive Report by the Assistant Director, Incentives Administration Division, Uchenna Okonkwo, and NIPC's Q1 2021 Mandatory Disclosures under the FOI Act, presented by the Head of Corporate Services, Sabo Isiaku. The disclosures include procurement records, nominal rolls, IGR revenue and expenditure, and budget performance, demonstrating NIPC's commitment to open and accountable governance.
