Nigeria–Turkey Business Forum: NIPC Speaks on Doing Business in Nigeria

NIPC Reception

Ahead of a two-day official visit by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his high-powered delegation to Nigeria, NIPC presented Nigeria's investment case to Turkish investors at the Nigeria–Turkey Business Forum in Abuja. The forum was organised by the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) in collaboration with DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Board) and the Turkey-Nigeria Business Council.

Acting Executive Secretary/CEO, Mr Emeka Offor, led NIPC's engagement with a presentation on doing business in Nigeria. The forum provided a platform for both countries to consolidate bilateral trade and investment ties. Nigeria is Turkey's top trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, with bilateral trade in 2020 estimated at $754 million and expected to exceed $1 billion — with some Turkish sources placing the figure at $2 billion as at end-2020.

Ahead of the Presidential visit, the two countries were expected to sign or consider approximately two dozen Bilateral Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding. NIPC's engagement at the forum formed part of the Commission's broader collaboration with bodies like NACCIMA to project and promote Nigeria's investment prospects.
