Environmental Science Hygiene (ESH) Ltd Nigeria, a subsidiary of Environmental Science Hygiene United Kingdom, has launched a new product and commissioned a state-of-the-art factory in Ikeja, Lagos. The product — Palm Tree® Hygiene foaming hand sanitiser — is described as the first all-natural foaming hand sanitiser produced, manufactured and distributed in Nigeria.
The alcohol used in the product is extracted naturally and distilled from the sap of the palm tree without damage to the tree and with no harmful environmental impact. The product also moisturises and aids decongestion of nasal pathways. ESH noted that 80% of customers prefer foaming over gel or liquid sanitisers, a finding that informed the development of the product after three years of research.
CEO Mr Sam Awolesi stated that the launch represents a fusion of industry knowledge, years of internal expertise, and locally available natural resources. Managing Director Mrs Sola Adebowale emphasised the dual purpose of the product — protecting human health whilst being environmentally sustainable — and its potential to assist healthcare institutions in preventing the spread of infectious viruses. The Ikeja factory also creates opportunities for SMEs in the supply chain.
