NIPC Reception

Local footwear design and manufacturing company Global Smartfit Nigeria has signed a ₦7 billion joint venture agreement with Indian footwear maker Prosafe International to set up a world-class footwear factory. The announcement was made during a visit to NIPC's headquarters in Abuja.

The factory, located on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory, will engage in the production and distribution of footwear and personal protective equipment (PPE) for local sales and export. Under the JV agreement, Prosafe will contribute expertise in plant establishment and operations, training and skill development, testing and R&D facilities, design, and 45% of the value of the machinery.

"To make this happen, we are partnering with a world-class footwear manufacturer who has extensive knowledge and experience in producing world-class footwear from the most advanced materials and processes," said Global Smartfit MD/CEO Mr Ogonna Okonkwo. Prosafe MD Satish Verma confirmed that the factory will generate power from an independent source and deploy the direct injection process — the latest technology in the industry. NIPC's Ag. ES/CEO Mr Emeka Offor commended the partnership and assured the firms of the Commission's full support.
