NIPC's Ag. Executive Secretary/CEO Mr Emeka Offor accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari as he led an 11-man delegation on a three-day State visit to the Kingdom of Spain. As part of the visit, President Buhari and key government officials engaged Nigerian and Spanish business owners at the Nigeria–Spain Business Forum in Madrid.
NIPC's Acting Chief Executive led engagements at the business roundtable on Nigeria's investment environment and opportunities, alongside the Group Managing Director of NNPC Mr Mele Kyari, the MD/CEO of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority Mr Umana Okon Umana, and the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council Mr Jelani Aliyu. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between NACCIMA and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation.
Spain's President Pedro Sánchez described Nigeria as a strategic partner, essential for stability and economic growth in West Africa. Nigeria is Turkey's top trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, and in 2021, Nigeria was the third largest source of gas imports for Spain (11.4%), after Algeria (42.7%) and the United States (14.2%).
