NIPC Pitches to African CEOs at Lagos Business School

NIPC Reception

NIPC's Ag. Executive Secretary/CEO Mr Emeka Offor challenged African CEOs participating in the Global Chief Executive – Africa (GCEO-A) programme at Lagos Business School to build capacity within Africa to meet the demands of the continent's teeming population. NIPC was represented by Head of Research and Statistics Mr Oladipupo Baruwa, who addressed a panel session themed 'AfCFTA: Opportunities and Challenges for the African Chief Executive.'

"It is where the risks are, and when you are well informed about what is happening in that environment, that you can see the opportunities and actually make the most profit," said Mr Baruwa, urging attendees to shed the pessimism and fear often associated with doing business in Africa. He noted that Nigeria is better prepared for AfCFTA than most African economies, given its large market, expanding market access for Nigerian goods, and effective trade remedies.

Other panellists included Mr Francis Anatogu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on the Public Sector and Secretary of Nigeria's National Action Committee on AfCFTA Implementation, and Dr Chinyere Almona, Director General/CEO of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
