NIPC Drives Investment and Regional Integration at WAES 2025

NIPC Reception

The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) played a strategic role at the inaugural West African Economic Summit (WAES 2025), held in Abuja from 20-21 June, bringing together policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs and cultural influencers to advance regional trade and investment under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

Led by Hajja Gana Wakil, Director of Investment Promotion, and supported by Emmanuel Longza, Zainab Ochejila and Adamu Abdulrahman, the NIPC team took part in high-level discussions, workshops and the influential Deal Room, where major investment deals and bilateral trade agreements took centre stage.

Key focus areas of the summit included green energy and sustainability, fintech and digital inclusion, cross-border trade, agricultural transformation, and youth-led SME development. A major highlight was the launch of the WAES Youth Investment Pipeline, a blended finance facility to empower young West African entrepreneurs.

NIPC's strong presence reaffirms Nigeria's leadership in regional economic integration and its commitment to opening up AfCFTA opportunities for inclusive growth.
