COVEC Pledges $624 Million Agricultural Investment in Jigawa State After NIPC-Led Delegation Visit

COVEC Pledges $624 Million Agricultural Investment in Jigawa State 05

The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission continues to play a central role in opening Nigeria's doors to transformative investments.

In continuation of its strategic facilitation efforts, NIPC led a 25-man delegation of Chinese investors from China Overseas Engineering Co. Ltd. (COVEC) on a 3-day mission (27–29 August 2025) to Jigawa State, focused on opening up vast opportunities in the agricultural sector.

The delegation engaged with state officials, private sector stakeholders, and local communities, visiting rice and wheat belts, fisheries, mechanisation hubs, farm estates, and the Jigawa Free Trade Zone, where PPP success stories like COMTTRA are already driving exports to global markets.

The highlight: Following the mission, COVEC announced a landmark US$624 million investment into 7 priority areas (from rice, maize, and cassava value chains to cattle ranching, fisheries, agro-machinery assembly, and solar-powered agric parks).

With NIPC championing these engagements, Nigeria is reinforcing its reputation as Africa's premier destination for agricultural investment, innovation, and sustainable growth, while positioning Jigawa State as a hub for agribusiness excellence.
